Semi-Improvisational Solo Guitar Loop: Life Moves So Fast

Guitar-focused songwriting has been a passion for years that I continue to develop; it is interesting that so many cultures considered artistic expression an integral component of a dynamic life, as our present day system generally pushes us to place such expressive practices on the ‘back-burner’ of life for more ‘important and productive functions’ — something that I did for a portion of my own life only to discover that sacrificing expression for practicality debilitates both.

This recording was made with what’s known as a loop pedal, which — once stomped — takes in portions of the guitar parts played and puts them on repeat. This allows for me to play over them in sequential layers, emulating multiple guitars at one time. I then play semi-improvisational (there is a rough outline that I follow but improvise many of the notes) in-between and on top of those layers.
